The Power to the Children competition is run in conjunction with Blackpool and Fylde councils whose respective mascots Big Cat (Blackpool is getting Clean and Tidy) and Humfry (Help us Make Fylde Recycle) have been visiting some of our participating schools in recent weeks and congratulating them on their efforts.

Jez Evans, Streetscene manager for Blackpool Council, said ‘ I hope that Blackpool pupils have learnt important recycling lessons as well as having fun creating their entries’.

And Andrew Loynde, project co-ordinator for FloWE, Fylde Low Waste and Energy, said ‘Everyone who gets involved in green issues is a winner in helping to protect our planet’.
