FIRE crews had to be called after a house in Blackpool was struck by lightning in the early hours today. The drama unfolded at just after 4am when the whole of the Fylde coast was battered by torrential rain and storms.
BLACKPOOL club captain Shaun Barker signed for Derby County today for a fee in excess of £1 million. Barker passed his medical and has signed a three-year-deal with the Rams, Derby manager Nigel Clough sealing the deal after staving off interest from Championship rivals Nottingham Forest.
PUB giant J D Wetherspoon has confirmed it is pulling the plug on a proposed £1.4m development in Blackpool. The chain secured planning permission in 2006 for the scheme to open a new bar and restaurant on Market Street. But since the previous buildings were demolished, no work has taken place.
