Player Profiles
Here is our take on who The Seasiders must keep an eye on if they are to survive in The Championship this season!

- Robbie Fowler

- Lee Trundle

- Jonathan Stead

- Curtis Davies

- Marlon King

- Matt Holland

- Zoltan Gera

- Trevor Sinclair

- Mart Poom

- Wes Hoolahan

- Robbie Fowler

- Cardiff City

- Striker

One of the most gifted strikers’ of his generation, scored a hatful of Premiership goals for Liverpool, but lost his way badly under Gerard Houllier, never really rediscovering his form.

Could a major coup for Cardiff if he can find his goal scoring touch.

- Lee Trundle

- Bristol City

- Striker

A very prolific striker in the lower divisions, 30-year-old Trundle has joined fellow Championship new boys Bristol City for a hefty £1million. We back him to cut it in his new surroundings.

- Jonathan Stead

- Sheffield Utd

- Striker

Has shown flashes of brilliance with Blackburn and Sheffield in the Premiership, should be a lot more comfortable at Championship level, expect him to terrorise Pool’s defenders this season.

- Curtis Davies

- WBA

- Defender

Enough with the strikers! Here is a central defender with real class, and no doubt a future international. Don’t expect him to be in the Championship for long, he’s already been linked with several Premiership big-boys, most notably Arsenal. However the £9million price-tag has so far dissuaded potential suitors.

- Marlon King

- Watford

- Striker

Ok back to the strikers, and another player with plenty of Premiership interest. Marlon King was cruelly sidelined with a knee injury for most of Watford’s season in the top flight, but there is no doubt his presence may have saved them from relegation. With pace and a fantastic long range strike King will be one to watch at Bloomfield Rd.

- Matt Holland

- Charlton Athletic

- Midfielder

A seasoned professional and former Ireland international, Matty Holland is a driving force from midfield. Although not as prolific as in his heyday, Holland will add guile and top flight experience to The Championship.

- Zoltan Gera

- West Brom

- Midfielder

A revelation in his first season in the Premiership, Gera provided goals and assists aplenty, and it was a surprise when he wasn’t snapped up following The Albion’s relegation in 2006. A quieter season in The Championship followed, but as they say form is temporary, class is permanent. Expect him to give the Pool full-backs a run for their money.

- Trevor Sinclair

- Cardiff City

- Midfielder

A sentimental choice, Pool favourite Sinclair will hopefully return to Bloomfield Road in November as part of the Cardiff team. A Premiership performer for many years and permanent fixture at West Ham and Manchester City when fit. Responsible for many “goal of the season” contenders, Sinclair’s finest moment came when he was part of the England team which beat Argentina 1-0 in the 2002 World Cup.

- Mart Poom

- Watford

- Goalkeeper

After impressive stints at Derby County and Sunderland in the Premiership, Estonian International Poom moved to Arsenal as cover for Jens Lehman and Manuel Alumina. A phenomenal shot stopper, if a little erratic. Poom could be the main reason if Parker and Morrell fail to find the net against Watford this season.

- Wes Hoolahan

- Blackpool

- Midfielder

Seasiders’ supporters will hope that Hoolahan does become a Championship star, not least due to the fact that his future is still in limbo. Able to turn a game on its head with moment of genuine brilliance, he is crucial to Pool' s success this season. Surely if he can maintain his form a call-up to Steve Staunton’s Ireland squad can be far away.
