Swim kids are pride and joy – instructor
A YMCA swimming instructor is delighted with her pupils after some of them earned the highest accolades she has ever handed out.
In addition to awarding the ASA gold swimming challenge awards to successful pupils from the YMCAs at Poulton and Fleetwood, experienced instructor Diane McGreevy was proud to present the extremely demanding complete swimmer and honours challenge awards.
The ASA gold award combines swimming, diving and survival skills and was awarded to Diane’s Poulton eight to10-year-old pupils Antonie Ashcroft, Ellie Bateman, Dylan Bolton, Georgia Bolton, Jake Bolton, Ben Latherman, Oscar Lingard, Kate Maskery, Amy Tickle and Saskia Whalley, together with Fleetwood-based Emily Sumner and Emily Winston.
Most of them also attained the complete swimmer award, which includes high-speed swims of 20-25m.
The highest award of all, though, went to Michael Carradus and Rebecca Williams also earned the complete swimmer and the honours challenge, which entails a 1,000m swim and other challenges to be completed inside 20 minutes.
Diane said: “These standards are very difficult to achieve, especially for pupils who only have one half-hour session each week.
“They have worked very hard and I am very proud off them all.”
