Lack of bodies is no obstacle

BLACKPOOL Junior Colts travelled to Bury with only 14 players but still won 33-8. Ross Mellor-Clark opened the scoring from a pass by fly-half Grant Blackshaw, who added the conversion. Will Richardson then drew his man and sent Mellor-Clark over for his second. Captain Ben Holland led his team well, backed up by scrum-half Pete Armstrong. Blackshaw’s kicking kept up the pressure and Blackpool soon scored again when winger Ryan Holmes’ fine tackle enabled Richardson to outpace the defence and score. Blackshaw’s goal made it 21-0 at half-time. Bury then scored their only try but Holmes soon scored again in the corner from Richardson’s perfect pass. Mellor-Clark outwitted his opposite number to complete his hat-trick and Blackshaw completed the scoring. Head coach Paul Moran said: “This was a fantastic team performance.”
