Ryan’s a golden boy

Ryan Ruckledge was Blackpool Wyre and Fylde Athletic Club’s only under-17 golden boy the end-of-season medal meeting at Stanley Park Arena, winning the 100m hurdle 19.5secs.
Lucy Mansfield took her customary double gold in the under-15 sprint events, with times of 12.8 and 26.00, while thrower Thomas Baran also did the double in the shot (12.30m) and hammer (39.09m).
In the under-13 division, Ben Everson continued his winning form with a fine 2:30.30 in the 800m.
This season’s new find Tash Gardner took gold in the 80m sprint with 11.8, as did by Rebecca Todd in the 100m with 15.1 and Kassidy Knight in the long jump with 4.30m.
The club won a further three golds in both the under-11 and under-9 age groups.
For the under-11s, Bradley Yates won the 800m (2:27.02), and David Jones (3.95m) and Katrina Kelly (3.66m) were both long jump winners.
Oliver Tomlinson won both the under-9 80m (12.9) and 800m (3:04.09), while Ciaran Johnson won the long jump (3.18m).

World at Yates’ feet

KIRKHAM Junior School student Bradley Yates has a enjoyed a tremendous summer, winning the gold medal at the British Biathle Championships at Salford Quays, Manchester. He is now looking forward to representing Great Britain at the World Biathle Championships in Monaco at the end of this month.
